February 21, 2022  |  News & Events, Provost's Updates, Timely Announcements

Good morning, colleagues. Here is this week’s update from Academic Affairs.

Kudos

Andrew Kincaid’s (English; Celtic Studies) new article, “Samuel Beckett’s Radio Geographies,” appears in the latest edition of the journal “Modernist Cultures.” Congratulations, Andrew!

Carolyn Esswein (Urban Planning; Community Design Solutions) achieved the planning profession’s highest honor by being named to the prestigious American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) College of Fellows for her outstanding achievements in urban planning. She is one of 53 inductees in this year’s College of Fellows, and only the fourth Fellow selected from Wisconsin since the College was inaugurated in 2000. This is wonderful recognition, Carolyn!

In the News

Maria Haigh was interviewed by local television stations (CBS58 and TMJ4) this past week about the situation in Ukraine based on her Ukrainian heritage and research focus on disinformation.

Milwaukee Athletics

Congratulations to Megan Walstad, who scored 26 points against Oakland to reach 1,000 for her career. She became the 22nd player in program history to reach 1,000 points and did it in just 81 games, which sits as the ninth fastest of those to reach the milestone. It marks Milwaukee’s first 1,000-point scorer since Steph Kostowicz (2014-18) who accomplished the feat in 2017.
