April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month! UWM, with support from the community, is committed to creating a space and a dialogue for sexual assault prevention as well as for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence.

Dr. Sameena Mulla: Who is the patient? An Anthropology of Sexual Assault

When forensic nurses provide a medico-legal sexual assault examination, who is the recipient of their care? This talk examines how nursing care is extended both to the victim of sexual assault, as well as to the the dying or deteriorating organic evidence imagined to be on her body. I argue that both the victim and the perpetrator DNA are configured as patients during the examination.
