2016-2017 Sport Club Banquet

The 2016-2017 Sport Club Banquet will be held on Tuesday, April 25th at 8:00pm in the Klotsche Arena. Clubs will be recognized for their success this year, awards will be handed out, prizes raffled off, and food will be available for current sport club members.

2016-2017 Award Nominations

Sport Club of the Year

 

The Club of the Year award will recognize a Sport Club that achieves at a high level throughout the entire academic year. Competitive success, leadership, club development, fundraising, and communication will all be metrics. The Club’s alignment with University Recreation’s core values of Inclusion, Personal Growth, Enjoyment, Sportsmanship, Health, and Sustainability will also be considered. The winning Club will be recognized with a permanent award in the Klotsche Center trophy case, and will receive an additional $250 added to their UREC allocation to assist with funding club activities

President of the Year

 

The President of the Year award will be given to the Club President who has most dedicated themselves to the benefit of their club. This award will be given based off nominations by the members of the club, and then the Sport Clubs Staff will choose a winner from the nominations. Once decided the winning President will be announced at the Sport Clubs Banquet. The winning Club will be recognized with a permanent award in the Klotsche Center trophy case, and will receive an additional $250 added to their UREC allocation to assist with funding club activities.

Most Improved Club

 

This award will be given to the team that has demonstrated great improvement over the year(s). This will be determined through comparison of how your team was organized and responsible with club logistics (paperwork, permission forms, budget etc.) and how they improved at tournaments (more titles, better ranking, etc.). The winning Club will be recognized with a permanent award in the Klotsche Center trophy case, and will receive an additional $250 added to their UREC allocation to assist with funding club activities.

Melissa Moutry Cumulative GPA Award

 

This award will be given to the Club with the highest average GPA (through Fall 2016) across their membership. Each member must be on the official team roster to be considered for the award. The winning Club will be recognized with a permanent award in the Klotsche Center trophy case, and will receive an additional $250 added to their UREC allocation to assist with funding club activities.

Best New Club

 

Any Sport Club that has joined the program over the last two years is eligible to win this award. For the 2016-2017 school year, that includes Women’s Basketball, Men’s Basketball, Wrestling, Women’s Lacrosse, Powerlifting, and Water Polo. Competitive record, membership, outreach, compliance, fundraising, and other relevant metrics will be considered. The winning Club will receive an additional $250 added to their UREC allocation to assist with funding club activities.

Best Uniform

 

The Best Uniform will be awarded to the team with the best and most unique jerseys! This may be a home or away jersey, but must be the most recent uniform that your team has worn. Send pictures in along with a short statement of why your team should win this award. The winning Club will receive an additional $100 added to their UREC allocation to assist with funding club activities, and will get to place their uniform in a Klotsche Center display case throughout the 2017-2018 school year.
