We offer a wide variety of fun, safe and effective classes to meet the needs of our participants and help them reach their fitness goals. Our highly trained, certified instructors provide a welcoming environment and a fun & motivating workout experience! All classes include modifications for all fitness levels.

Group X classes are FREE for current UWM Students and UREC Members. Check in at the Information Center to obtain a pass for class. Please read our participant policies before attending class.

GROUP X CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Boot Camp:
Do you want a challenge? Then this class is for you! This class will take you through drills and some obstacle courses. Cardio, balance, agility and muscle conditioning exercises with and without equipment will be included to give you the extreme full body workout. Come with an open mind because anything goes!

Core Cardio:
Incorporates a mix of cardio moves that will engage your core balance and coordination, as well as abdominal strengthening exercises to isolate and challenge your core like never before!

Cycle & Core:
Put a new spin on your core workout with this heart-pounding, endurance-building class that fuses the best of indoor cycling with core moves. Push through the resistance as you conquer hills, jumps and sprints throughout this sweaty, calorie-burning journey. After the ride, keep the momentum going as you hit the mat for a core strengthening cool down. See you at the finish line.

Flex Fusion:
Flex Fusion is a fun, yet challenging mind-body fusion class that will have your muscles shaking and your heart rate pounding. The class features an interval based structure incorporating controlled balance and strength training exercises, cardio intervals, yoga and core work. Flex Fusion is designed to build deep muscle strength and tone, while simultaneously increasing flexibility and balance. Many of the movements are taken from classical tap dancing, though no no previous dance experience is required.  Set to upbeat music, this workout uses isometric movements to strengthen and lengthen all major muscle groups. This low-impact workout uses a yoga-mat, Pilates ball and your own body weight, with the option of light hand weights during certain portions. All fitness levels are welcome.

Group Cycle:
An indoor cycling cardio class. It is a non-competitive, individually paced ride that will incorporate cardio challenges, hill climbs, and varying speed and resistance levels to challenge all participant levels.

Group Cycle Guidelines:

  • Arrive 15 minutes early to learn safety and bike set up. No latecomers will be admitted.
  • All participants must check-in with ID at the Information Center to obtain pass for class at least 5 minutes prior but no sooner than 30 minutes prior to class start.
  • Starter Group Cycle is recommended, or previous group cycle experience, prior to attending any regular cycle class.
  • Group Cycle participants may not bring their own pedals, cages, seats, etc.
  • It is strongly recommended you bring a water bottle to class. Sweat towels are also recommended.
  • Always ride at your own fitness level.
  • Ask the instructor if you have any questions or concerns.

A 30-minute indoor cycle cardio class. It is a non-competitive, individually paced ride that will incorporate cardio challenges, hill climbs and varying speed and resistance levels to challenge all participant levels. Be ready to work hard and feel great during the best half hour of cycling yet!

Group Strength:
This barbell class strengthens your entire body. The workout challenges all your major muscle groups using the best weight-room exercises like squats, press, lifts & curls. Exercises are choreographed to music, making lifting fun! Great music and a motivating instructor will inspire you to get the results you came for.

Guts and Butts:
Want to firm it up? Then get to the class that focuses on exercises for the abs and lower body. We’ll utilize a variety of fitness equipment to tone up those areas!

Hard Core:
Like to do cardio on your own? Just looking for a quick core workout? This is the perfect complement to end or start your workout or try on a busy day! This 30 minute core workout focuses on the muscles from the shoulders to the hips to improve overall strength and endurance. Expect to leave feeling accomplished and empowered.

HIIT IT:
HIIT: High Intensity Interval Training. This is a class designed to push you to your limit by taking you through the highs and lows of interval training. Your heart rate will reach peak highs and recover at lower intensities, allowing you to push even harder during the next high. While this class is a serious challenge, there are modifications for everyone.

Kickbox Blast:
Learn proper punching and kicking techniques and feel empowered through the use of focus pads. This class uses a variety of Martial Arts moves that will help you improve cardiovascular fitness, enhance muscle tone, and increase confidence.

PiYo™ *NEW*:
PiYo™ combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. And, we crank up the speed to deliver a true fat-burning, low-impact workout that leaves your body long, lean, and defined.

POUND™ *NEW*:
POUND is the world’s first cardio jam session inspired by the infectious, energizing and sweat-dripping fun of playing the drums. Using Ripstix, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, POUND transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out. Instead of listening to music, you become the music in this exhilarating full-body workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and Pilates-inspired movements. Roll it Out:
Did you know that regular foam rolling sessions will improve your circulation, mobility, flexibility, performance, and reduce injuries? Learn to roll IT out – your knots (trigger points), your tight muscles, and your stress. Discover the skills and strategies of self-myofascial release using your own body weight and a foam roller (and other equipment). We’ll cover techniques for your quads, hamstrings, IT bands, hips, back, shoulders, arms, and feet. Bonus: foam rolling movements awaken your core and build strength too! Rolling is great before and after weight training, cardio or other types of workouts. Each week, we want you to leave as though you had a full-body massage

Strength Express:
Start your day off strong with a shortened, 45 minute, version of our amazing Group Strength class, to get a full body strength workout in before you start your day.

STRONG by Zumba™ *NEW*:

STRONG by Zumba™ is a high intensity interval training workout driven by the science of Synced Music Motivation. Unlike all other workouts, we don’t just create moves to a playlist. Instead, we craft and reverse engineer the songs to match every move, driving the intensity in a challenging progression that provides a total body workout. The result is a group fitness experience unlike any other.

This class will push you past your limits to help you reach your fitness goals faster. Using your own body weight, you will gain muscular endurance, tone, and definition, and you will experience an increased afterburn.

Total Body Blast:
This is an energizing circuit training workout that includes muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance intervals. Creative exercises will be performed using dumbbells, stability balls, barbells and much more to strengthen and tone all major muscle groups. By utilizing various fitness equipment and techniques, every class will be designed differently and will never be boring!

Triple Threat:
Triple threat combines important areas of any workout all in one!  This class will focus equally on strength training, cardiovascular work, and core exercises creating an awesome overall workout. Don’t be threatened, bring your smile and enthusiasm and have some fun!

Zumba™:
An aerobic dance class full of Latin and other exotic music flavors. The routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. ZUMBA targets areas such as the gluteus, legs, arms, abdominals, and the most important muscle of the body…THE HEART! The sexy and explosive Latin rhythms create a party-like atmosphere that delivers results.

WERQ™:
