Walk to Work Program
UWM encourages employees to live near campus through a variety of ways. If you are interested in purchasing or renting a home in the neighborhoods surrounding the UWM campus, take a look at the Housing Near UWM section on this page, which contains sales and rental listings in the area. Please note that these are only a small percentage of available sales listings. Employees are also encouraged to search realtor listings and to tour the neighborhoods to find houses for sale that are not included on this listing.
Please be aware of the following:
This listing service is available to UWM Faculty/Staff/Graduate Students ONLY. The properties advertised are available upon an equal opportunity basis. (See statement below). The properties listed are neither University-inspected nor approved. Properties will only be posted if they fall within the Neighborhood Relations geographical boundaries (Capitol Drive to Brady Street to the north/south and Holton Avenue to Lake Michigan to the west/east). The City of Milwaukee limits occupancy to no more than 3 unrelated persons per unit. Violators may be fined and/or evicted. Remaining occupants may be responsible for the entire lease payment. All information submitted for posting will become public, obtainable from this website.
If interested in posting a property, please e-mail Laura Purifoy at firstname.lastname@example.org with address of property, a brief description, rent, availability, and contact information.
Federal and State Fair Housing Laws make it illegal in fact or intention to advertise any preferences, limitation or discrimination based upon race, color, religion, sex, familial status, national origin, ancestry, marital status, sexual orientation, lawful source of income, age or handicap or intention to make any such preference, limitation, or discrimination. We will not knowingly accept any advertisement for real estate which is in violation of the law. All persons are hereby informed that all dwellings advertised are available on an equal opportunity basis.

Upcoming East Side Homeownership Seminar
The Eastside Milwaukee Community Council, in collaboration with UWM External Relations, will hold a seminar for UWM staff who have contact with new and potential employees, and those interested in living in the area near campus.
The seminar is Thursday, Jan. 12 from 9-11 a.m.
There will be guest speakers covering topics such as the benefits of owning and living in a duplex, the amenities available near UWM, the current market and mortgage environment, and the quality of local schools. Representatives of Milwaukee Police and the UWM Dean of Students Office will also speak.
All UWM employees are also encouraged to take a survey about their impression of the east side neighborhood around UWM.
The seminar will take place in Enderis Hall Room 127.
