The UWM/MPS GEAR UP Program is a multiyear partnership between UWM’s TRIO & Pre-College Programs and Milwaukee Public Schools. The project supports students from the high school classes of 2017 and 2018 from Audubon, Bay View, Bradley Tech, Hamilton, James Madison Academic Campus, Milwaukee High School of the Arts, Milwaukee Marshall and Vincent High Schools. In collaboration with other departments, Schools and Colleges on campus, UWM has provided College Major and Career Workshops, Math, Reading and Writing enrichment, Summer Academic and ACT Prep camps, Saturday Academic and Career Camps, Financial Aid Workshops and campus tours. All Services are designed to prepare students for the next grade level, expose them to the possibility of college, how to pay for college, choosing a college major and learning about career options.

Eligibility

Students in the 11th or 12th grade attending one of the eight MPS GEAR UP high schools.

Policies and Fees

Students are eligible if they attend one of the GEAR UP schools and are in 11th or 12th grade.

There are no fees.
