WHAT WE DO AND HOW WE DO IT

We value cultural competence and compassion in all we do…

Education, Programs and Events

The WRC enhances awareness and understanding at UWM of the diversity of women’s lives and experiences, and the role gender plays in everyone’s life. We sponsor programs and events that inform and entertain. We also have a great lending library with great resources for academic and personal use!

Personal Support, Counseling and Advocacy

The WRC promotes and supports the health and well-being of women, and helps students to address their problems, recognize their individual and collective power, and achieve their full educational, career, and personal potential at UWM and beyond. We provide confidential support, counseling, information & referral, and advocacy related to concerns including discrimination, sexual assault, harassment, stalking, relationship violence and more. We offer events throughout the year focused on building community and peer support. Our lounge offers students a quiet, safe place to relax, study or chat. The WRC builds partnerships and advocates for change to address the needs of women-identified students at UWM, to ensure institutional attention to policies and practices that have an impact on women students, and to create a caring and inclusive campus community.

Involvement and Engagement

The WRC provides opportunities for student involvement and leadership. Students engage with us in diverse ways that include, but are not limited to, attending WRC programs and events; internship or practicum placements with the WRC; and working as an employee or volunteer for the WRC. Interested students will find opportunities to learn, build skills, network and make a difference!

Get involved and make a difference at UWM and beyond!
