Current schedule of Library Hours

The UWM Libraries provide access to all your print and digital needs, offering over 5.2 million cataloged items, including books, journals, DVDs, CDs, maps, curriculum, archival and rare materials. The Libraries also provide access to thousands of e-resources, including digital collections, online journals, e-books, and subject databases, many with full-text articles. All resources may be discovered from the Libraries’ homepage. Wireless access is available throughout the building.

The Daniel M. Soref Learning Commons (first floor, west wing) offers students a comfortable environment in which to study, use library resources, and collaborate with colleagues. The Learning Commons contains more than 200 computers, comfortable individual study spaces, group study spaces, group study rooms for reservation (including a room with the latest technology to accommodate team-based assignments), two classrooms, and a café. During the fall and spring semesters, the Learning Commons is open overnight, Sunday through Thursday.

In-person help is available at the Ask A Librarian desk, located at the main service desk in the Daniel M. Soref Learning Commons, and through 24-hour chat, email, or via a scheduled research consultation. Interactive tutorials, online guides, and tours of the Libraries are also available. Learn more at Libraries Instruction.

Students may borrow materials from the Libraries with a current UWM ID card. Students may also borrow materials from other UW System libraries via the online catalog or any other library by using Interlibrary Loan. The Media and Reserve Library (lower level, west wing) offers a wide variety of items for checkout, including laptops, digital cameras, DVDs, and webcams.  Course-related materials placed on Reserve by faculty are available in this area. The Browsing Collection, which offers more popular materials is also located here.

The Libraries provide resources and services for UWM distance education students and faculty.  Online students and faculty have access to the same resources and support from UWM Libraries that are available to students and teachers in a traditional campus setting.

Scanners, printers, and copy machines are located throughout the building. See library amenities.
