The Honors College enables all students in all academic majors and programs so to earn an Honors Degree, the highest degree attainable at UWM. Honors seminars emphasize active discussion, the ability to write and revise with confidence, close reading, critical thinking, independent research, and the creative exploration of vital themes and topics—all elements that comprise the best of college educations. As an Honors student, you will be able to enroll in innovative and intellectually challenging seminars limited to 15 students; sample seminar topics include “Growing Up,” “Planet in Crisis,” “Freudian Slips,” and “Devious Cinema.” These courses all count toward your General Education requirements. In addition, you will enjoy benefits such as: Being taught by distinguished faculty from across campus; Having priority registration—registering first for courses each semester; Receiving personalized advising; Being eligible for Honors College scholarships; Earning optional credit for completing a thesis, individual research, or creative projects; and Enjoying the advantages of a private college within a great, public, research university.
