Dr. Victor Mirelman: The Jews of Argentina

Dr. Victor Mirelman is a native of Argentina, a leading expert on the history of Jews in Latin America, and author of a definitive history of the Jews of Argentina. He is a Rabbi and scholar who has taught at The Hebrew University, Columbia University, and The Jewish Theological Seminary. For the past 25 years, he has taught at the Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership in Chicago, where he lectures on a range of historical and cultural topics.

In this lecture, Dr. Mirelman described the establishment and growth of the Jewish population in Argentina, the seventh largest Jewish community in the world and the largest Jewish community in Latin America. This event was held at UWM in collaboration with the Jewish Museum Milwaukee exhibit, Southern Exposure: The Jews of Argentina (October 4, 2015 through January 17, 2016).
