The Jews of Argentina

The Jewish population in Argentina is the seventh largest Jewish community in the world and the largest Jewish community in Latin America. This talk will focus on the establishment and growth of the Jewish community within Argentina and the challenges that this community continues to face.

Dr. Victor Mirelman is a native of Argentina, a leading expert on the history of Jews in Latin America, and author of a definitive history of the Jews of Argentina. He is a Rabbi and scholar who has taught at The Hebrew University, Columbia University, and The Jewish Theological Seminary. For the past 25 years, he has taught at the Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership in Chicago, where he lectures on a range of historical and cultural topics.
