Amy Kirby, MSW, LCSW

Amy Kirby is a clinical associate professor and MSW program coordinator in the Social Work Department. She is a licensed clinical social worker with a variety of social work experience in roles related to clinical social work, direct practice, supervision and administration, research and social work education. Amy has worked in various social service settings including outpatient mental and behavioral health, child welfare (treatment foster care, foster care, kinship care, caregiver support), juvenile justice and community-based services.

Prior to her current position, Amy was an associate researcher (lead counselor/clinical supervisor) with a program of the school’s Center for Applied Behavioral Research (CABHR) called the Milwaukee Young Parenthood Study (MYPS). At the close of MYPS in 2012, Amy moved into the position of senior advisor/MSW specialist managing admissions and advising efforts for the MSW program. She has also served as an agency-based field instructor and adjunct classroom instructor for the Social Work Department at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
