Traumatized Children: Blending of Somatic Experiencing and Sensory Processing Approaches
Difficulties with the organization and processing of sensory stimuli that are related to trauma disorders reflect the pervasive effects of negative life experience in early childhood through adolescence. This experiential workshop provides the link between sensory-motor based interventions and their effectiveness in trauma therapy and in school interventions.
Participants will learn techniques to trauma-proof children and review case studies of sensory presentations in traumatized children and teens. They will learn to link concepts and activities to facilitate the processing and integration of sensory stimuli when treating disorders of trauma.
The core goal of the interventions presented is to promote coherence, embodiment, empowerment and autonomic regulation within the nervous system to facilitate personal and academic success.
