Tour of United Community Center and Day of the Dead Exhibit
The mission of the United Community Center (UCC) is to provide programs to Hispanics and south side residents of all ages in areas including education, recreation and community development, as well as the celebration of cultural heritage through the arts. We will see how this mission statement is implemented at the UCC. We will also see “Latino Art” annual Day of the Dead celebration featuring a bright and eclectic collection of ofrendas (altars) prepared by local, regional and international artists honoring their lost love ones. Our tour will conclude with lunch at Café el Sol which is located in the UCC and features authentic Mexican and Puerto Rican cuisine.
