Arch 510 Structural Analysis & Design

This course introduces the design and analysis of structures to the student of architecture. The form of the structural skeleton influences the scale of the forces that must be carried from application of the load to the building’s foundation. Graphic statics, a structural analysis technique developed in the mid nineteenth century, offers the architectural student an excellent means of understanding and analyzing statically determinant structures. Properly employed, graphic statics provides an excellent method for the design of efficient structures.
