Arch 304 Contemporary Criticism

This course is intended to continue the conversation begun in the first year history/theory sequence and complemented in the second year with the studio curriculum and visualization sequence. It is also suitable for Master’s students. The goal of this course is to provide students with a closer understanding of the role of criticism in architectural history and theory. Students will be expected to further develop their understanding of architectural history and theory through close readings of given texts and projects. Through lectures, close analysis of readings and discussion, students will gain an understanding of the paradigmatic authors central to contemporary criticism and urbanism.
