Arch 303 Architecture Systems 2

This course will provide an introductory framework for the study of environmental systems in architecture that relates the quantitative descriptions of systems their performance to the qualitative understanding and experiences of the environment. We will examine the effect of thermodynamic forces on the spaces and systems of Architecture. These forces and material flows are visceral in their capacity to shape both building and space, affecting all of the senses and the physiology of the body. Our goal over the coming months will be to introduce you to the fundamentals of building environmental control systems through the use of virtual simulation tools, physical mock-ups and observational analysis.
