Student information is stored in PeopleSoft, locally known as PAWS (Panther Access to Web Services) at UWM. Much of that data is subsequently selected and stored for reporting access in UWM’s Student Data Warehouse, sometimes called the Reporting Data Store (RDS). Student Data Warehouse data is refreshed daily and is easily accessed using query tools such as Hyperion. Current and historical data, as well as data collections (data related to an application) are available.
The Operational Data Store (ODS), designed for use by web applications, is a repository for a subset of the RDS data. The ODS data is refreshed simultaneously with its RDS counterpart.

Understanding the Data
UWM Data Dictionary
The Data Dictionary is an on-line, searchable database that contains information about the data and tables in the UWM Student Data Warehouse. Defining this data is an on-going process, so some fields may not yet be completed.
Value Lists and other Aids
Value Lists are lists of all possible values for frequently used data items such as term codes, plan codes and heritage codes with descriptions and other information about the codes.
Other Warehouse Aids include items such as Plan and Sub-plan numbering schemes and the schedule for some of the Campus Wide Hyperion queries.
Student Data Warehouse Access Groups
For information about the authorization groups for query writing check the Student Data Warehouse Access Groups list.
Student Data Warehouse Historical Views
The Student DW Hist View List contains a list of Student Data tables currently available in the History schema.
ODS (Operational Data Store)
The ODS Table List contains a list of Student Data tables currently available in the ODS. These tables can also be found within the Data Dictionary by searching for ‘ODS’.
