Undergraduate Degrees

The following undergraduate degrees are offered at UWM:

  • BA: Bachelor of Arts
  • BBA: Bachelor of Business Administration
  • BSE: Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • BFA: Bachelor of Fine Arts
  • BS: Bachelor of Science

The faculty of each major have determined degree titles to be awarded upon completion of their approved programs of study. A complete list of majors and corresponding degrees offered at UWM is published below.

Double Majors
Double Majors allow a student to major in two subjects. You can pursue a primary degree program and study an additional major that may even be in another school or college. To attempt a Double Major, you must complete the degree requirements of your primary degree program and only the major requirements of your additional major. Upon completion of a Double Major, you will apply for graduation once and pay the $40.00 graduation fee once. You will receive one diploma, and your final transcript will reflect one degree with two majors.

Dual Degrees
Dual Degree programs offer students the opportunity to acquire two degrees in less time than it would take if pursued independently. The specific requirements of each Dual Degree program differ. Most schools and colleges at UWM do not offer Dual Degrees. To attempt Dual Degrees, you must apply to and be accepted by each program separately. You will be assigned advisors from both programs unless both programs are in the same school/college. You must fulfill both sets of degree requirements before either degree is awarded. Upon completion of both Dual Degree programs, you will apply for graduation twice and pay the $40.00 graduation fee twice (one $80.00 fee billed from the Bursar Office). You will receive two diplomas (one for each completed degree), and your final transcript will reflect two separate degrees.

General Bachelor’s Degree Requirements for the University include the following:

  • A minimum of 120 undergraduate credits in courses numbered 100 through 500.
  • A minimum of 30 credits overall and half of upper-level credits in majors and minors must be earned in residence at UWM
  • A minimum GPA of 2.000 or better both overall and in the major and minor fields
  • The General Education Requirements (GER), University Requirements (UR) and all Major and/or Minor Requirements (MMR).
