The Student Success Center connects UW-Milwaukee students to peers, faculty, staff and resources throughout our campus community to support the personal and academic success of each student. We provide students a variety of academic and support services to empower them to achieve and succeed.
What is the Student Success Center?
The Student Success Center should be your first stop on campus if you have a question. Our staff are trained to answer a variety of questions and to get you where you need to go. We know UWM can be a big place, let us help you navigate it!

Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction
Tutoring/SI services provides UW-Milwaukee undergraduate students with a variety of academic support services to empower them to learn, achieve, and succeed in college. Our services include Supplemental Instruction, Small Group Tutoring, Drop-In Tutoring, and Academic Skills Tutoring.
Peer Mentoring
Peer Mentors serve in paid positions focused on supporting the success of first-year students. Peer Mentors guide students towards resources on campus that fit their needs and address academic, social, extracurricular, and professional topics with their students.
First-Year Forward
First-Year Forward (FYF) is dedicated to supporting the first-year student transition through success coaching, academic skill building, and referrals to campus resources.

The Fund for Wisconsin Scholars Program (FFWS) was designed by a private foundation established in 2007 by John & Tashia Morgridge to provide need based grants to graduates of Wisconsin public high schools attending a public university in Wisconsin. Randomly selected awardees are first-year students who demonstrate a financial gap in funding to cover tuition costs determined by their Expected Family Contribution through FAFSA. In addition to scholarship support, students are supported by a team of peer mentors and a success coach to help them navigate their college experience.
Fostering Success is a program to support and empower independent youth to attend and graduate college. Independent youth include those independent on the FAFSA due to foster care, guardianship, kinship, homelessness or at risk of being homeless, a ward-of-the-court, an orphan, an emancipated minor, or someone approved for a dependency override. Students receive college coaching, financial support, and help navigating resources.
