Seniors Jacob Beihoff and Adam Honts win Outstanding Presentation award at Joint Mathematics Meeting

Seniors Jacob Beihoff (Math) and Adam Honts (Applied Math and Computer Science) won an Outstanding Presentation award at the undergraduate poster session at the Joint Mathematics Meeting in San Deigo in January. Beihoff and Honts were awarded an Undergraduate Research Travel award to support their trip, where they presented their poster, “Quantifying the Distribution of Urban Vegetation based on Google Street View Images.” Beihoff and Honts are mentored by Istvan Lauko, Associate Professor of Mathematical Sciences, and began the work in the NSF supported Undergraduate Research in Biology and Mathematics (UBM) program.  Both students are now supported through the Support for Undergraduate Research Fellows (SURF) program.
