UWM is participating in National Depression Screening Day on October 4th in the Student Union. If you’re feeling sad, angry, anxious, or stressed we encourage you to get a mental health check-up. Depression, once recognized, is a treatable illness and this screening will help you identify it and walk you through your treatment options. The screening offers:
· An anonymous depression screening
· Educational resources for participants to take home
· A confidential interview with a mental health specialist to discuss the results of individual screenings
· A list of local resources where treatment is available
You can receive a free screening that day from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. by signing up at the information table on the main floor of the UWM union, or by going directly to rooms 220 or 240, the private screening areas in the union. UWM mental health counselors will also be at the information table and available to answer questions.
This event is sponsored by the UWM Counseling Services. For more information please contact JoAnne Graham at the Counseling Services at 229-5144.
