Important information about UW-Madison’s meningitis cases

There are currently no reported cases of serogroup B meningococcal disease in UW-Milwaukee students and there have been no UW-Milwaukee students identified as close contacts to the UW-Madison cases. UW-Milwaukee Campus Health Officer Julie Bonner, MD has been communicating with local public health officials since last week when the announcement of large scale vaccination clinics was made by UW-Madison after two recent cases of serogroup B meningococcal disease were confirmed. These students are currently recovering from meningococcal disease.

For more information about meningococcal disease please go to the Center for Disease Control meningococcal disease webpage and the Center for Disease Control meningococcal vaccine webpage.
