Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters features UWM researchers

MILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters hosts a public lecture by a distinguished professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) on Tuesday, March 25.

Chukuka S. Enwemeka, dean of UWM’s College of Health Sciences and a renowned researcher in phototherapy, will give a talk at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery in Madison on the healing properties of near-infrared and blue light.

Enwemeka’s talk, “Full Spectrum: The Promise of Light as Medicine,” is part of the Academy’s Evening Talk lecture series and is presented in partnership with the Morgridge Institute for Research on the UW-Madison campus. He will discuss the medical applications for near-infrared and blue light, delving into how phototherapy destroys dangerous pathogens and improves with a wide variety of ailments.

The 7 p.m. lecture is free with registration at: www.wisconsinacademy.org/fullspectrum. The lecture will be taped by Wisconsin Public Television for later broadcast on its stations statewide.

Enwemeka joined UWM as professor and dean of the College of Health Sciences in 2009, and was appointed a UWM Distinguished Professor in 2012. He is one of the foremost authorities in the area of photo-engineering of the tissue repair process with visible and near infra-red light and lasers.
