VA Mobile Vet Center coming to campus

Veterans and their families interested in services provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs have a convenient option this week when the VA Mobile Vet Center will be at UW-Milwaukee.

The Vet Center van will be parked in the Chapman/Enderis parking lot from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 6 and 7, providing free walk-in services for student veterans and their dependents.

During that time, visitors can meet Richard Clark, the Vet Center outreach specialist, and Ozzie Brodhead, the Vet Center reintegration counselor.

The Mobile Vet Center provides a broad range of counseling, outreach and referral services to help veterans and their families successfully make post-war readjustments to civilian life. Private counseling space is provided.

Services provided include:

  • Benefits counseling
  • Social and economic post-war needs counseling
  • Sexual trauma referral services
  • Marriage and family counseling
  • Medical referrals
  • Employment counseling, guidance and referrals
  • Community education.

Mobile Vet Centers are deployed across the country, but this will be the first time one visits UWM.
