UWM Mortar Board chapter honored

The Honoratae chapter of Mortar Board at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee was among the outstanding chapters to be recognized with a Silver Torch Award at the 2016 Mortar Board National Conference, held this summer in Indianapolis.

The Silver Torch Award recognizes chapters that make significant accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, leadership and meaningful service to their institutions.

UWM’s chapter was one of just 34 honored among the 231 chapters nationwide.

“Mortar Board is pleased to recognize these chapters that have achieved the high standards necessary for success at the national level,” said national president Abigail Diehl. “They serve their campuses well, which is Mortar Board’s aim.”

Founded in 1918, Mortar Board is the premier national honor society recognizing college seniors for outstanding achievement in scholarship, leadership and service. Mortar Board provides opportunities for continued leadership development, promotes service to institutions of higher learning and encourages lifelong contributions to the global community.
