Faculty and staff who travel as a part of their job responsibilities should note several changes in recent months on travel policies and procedures.
Hotel use
Concur Online or Fox World Travel agents are the required methods for making individual lodging reservations. Group reservations as well as hotel reservations associated with an externally sponsored conference or event can continue to be made directly with the hotel.
Whenever available, travelers must use hotels that are part of the UW System’s contracted hotels. The list of contracted hotels can be found here, and are designated in Concur as “Preferred Hotels.” These contracts provide optimal rates with greater flexibility.

Car Rental
The UW System Big Ten Alliance contract requires travelers to rent vehicles from Enterprise or National, unless neither is available.
The contract now covers student drivers aged 18 to 25 to rent for university-sponsored travel. Student or other non-employee reservations must be made by the department.

Additional travel support
Also new this year is enhanced travel support. Anyone needed help with travel questions can contact Alyssa Mahn, who is regional travel manager for UW System. She’s been serving UWM since July as the university’s travel policy and procedure expert. Mahn can help with such things as:
- Answering questions about UW System travel policies and procedures, including training on reservation options such as Concur and Fox World Travel
- Advising about reservation options, use of contracted suppliers and how best to satisfy travel needs
- Administering the Concur Travel self-booking tool technology

Survey
