Robots introduce Milwaukee students to computer science

Susan McRoy, professor of computer science, and Vanessa Radlinger, a computer science major, used robots to demonstrate programming to students April 21 at the Milwaukee Public Schools STEM Fair at the Milwaukee County Zoo. The robots helped introduce computer science to students and their teachers.

“We showed students how software can control robots in factories, during disaster recovery, or while playing games,” McRoy said. “Reaching out to young students can help them broaden their horizons at an age when it can make a big impact. They can start choosing classes that could affect their future.”

The fair attracted more than 300 K-12 students from 42 Milwaukee Public Schools, who presented science fair and engineering design projects.
