Imagine: a world where everyone has helmet head

It’s spring (yes, really) and Chancellor Mark Mone – an avid bicyclist – is forming a Chancellor’s Cycling Group.

This survey will assess campus interest in activities, groups and information related to bicycling. When you’ve finished the survey, here are several bicycle-related items to note:

May 5 is the last day to register as part of the UWM team for the June 5 UPAF Ride for the Arts, with four routes from 10 to 70 miles. If you would like to register as part of the UWM team, choose “I am an individual signing up as part of a team” and then select Prowling Panther Bicycle Club from the drop-down menu. The team password is panthers. Individual registration continues through June 4.

May 20 is Bike to Work Day. Join UWM riders from two locations, both beginning at 7:30 a.m.

  • Ride from the north. Meet at Martinizing Dry Cleaners at the intersection of East Hampton Avenue and Wilson Drive in Shorewood.
  • Ride from the south. Meet at McKinley Marina parking lot.

Both groups will ride to UWM via the Oak Leaf Trail into campus for a short gathering on Spaights Plaza.

Finally, log your cycling miles from now through September for the National Bike Challenge. UWM is part of the Town-Gown Showdown challenge, with riders from Milwaukee County, MMSD, MATC, Marquette University and Alverno College.
