Grants and support for wide range of faculty research

Several UWM faculty members recently received research funding through grants and a university-sponsored research initiative.

Fifteen proposals were chosen for funding through the 2016-27 Research Grant Initiative that seeks to bolster scholarly work and innovation for the state at large:

Derek Counts, professor of Art History; David Frick, professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry; Karyn Frick, professor of Psychology; Peter Geissinger, professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry; Adam Greenberg, professor of Psychology; John Isbell, professor of Geosciences; Junjie Niu, assistant professor of Materials Science and Engineering; Margaret Noodin, assistant professor of English; Ionel Popa, assistant professor of Physics; Joel Rast, associate professor of Political Science; Rafael Rodriguez Sevilla, associate professor of Biological Sciences; Alan Schwabacher, assistant professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry; Ching-Hong Yang, professor of Biological Sciences; Chris Yingchun Yuan, associate professor of Mechanical Engineering; Mo Zell, associate professor of Architecture

A group of researchers also received funding through the UWM Library’s 2016 Fromkin Research Grant and Lectureship for their project, “Transforming Justice: Youth-Led Analysis of Mass Criminalization in Milwaukee.” They are:

Anne Bonds, assistant professor of Geography; Lorraine Halinka Malcoe, associate professor of the School of Public Health; Jenna Loyd, assistant professor of the School of Public Health; Jennifer Plevin, program director at doc|UWM, in the Department of Film, Video, Animation and New Genres; Robert Smith, associate professor of History.
