Free eating disorders screening for UWM students

As the semester’s pace picks up, increased stress can have adverse effects on academic performance, but so can an eating disorder. An unhealthy obsession with food and body image may require counseling.

That’s why UWM is providing free eating disorder screenings for students from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 12.EAT_b

Students can receive their free screening by signing up at an information table the day of the screenings on the main floor of the Student Union. They can also go directly to room 143, where the screenings are taking place.

Students will receive an anonymous assessment of their possible eating disorder, informational resources, and a confidential interview with a mental health specialist and a list of local treatment resources.

The screenings include:

  • An anonymous eating disorder assessment
  • Educational resources for participants to take home
  • A confidential interview with a mental health specialist to discuss results of individual screenings

UWM mental health counselors will answer questions and provide information about healthy nutrition and exercise.
