César Ferreira, professor of Spanish and Portuguese, was inducted into the Orden de los Descubridores (Order of Discoverers) by Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, during a Ceremony May 6 in Greene Hall.

The honor is conferred for “outstanding service in the fields of Hispanic scholarship, the teaching of Spanish, and the promotion of good relations between English-speaking countries and those of Spanish speech.”

“Dr. César Ferreira has established an impressive, international reputation as a Hispanist, which has been recently validated by his admission into the prestigious Peruvian Academy of Language,” said Mark P. Del Mastro, executive director of Sigma Delta Pi. “UWM should be proud to have such an accomplished academician among its faculty.”
