Science Bag – Water and Air: The Physics of Flying and Sailing

March 24, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 8:00pm on Friday, repeating until March 31, 2017

One event on March 12, 2017 at 2:00pm

How do airplanes get off the ground? How can sailboats sail into the wind? Come to the March Science Bag for a look at the science behind how mankind is able to “climb on the air.”

We’ve gone from ancient sailing ships (that could only go slowly downwind) to futuristic sailboats that exceed 60 miles per hour. From gliders that ride on gentle winds aloft to jets that outpace the speed of sound itself, come learn how harnessing the properties of air allow us to travel the seas and the skies.

Science Bag is free, open to the public and family friendly.

Shows run Fridays, March 3-31, with a Sunday matinee March 12 at 2 p.m.
