Milwaukee Fire Department Training
March 24, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 9:00am, repeating until March 26, 2017
The campus community may notice some unusual activity beginning on Friday, March 24 through Sunday, March 26. The Milwaukee Fire Department’s Heavy Urban Rescue Team will be on campus conducting confined space rescue training.
The 90-memeber team is divided into four disciplines: structural collapse, rope rescue, trench rescue and confined space rescue. It performs technical rescue procedures in a safe and efficient manner in high angle rope rescue, low angle rope rescue, one-point suspension with litter tender, structural collapse rescue, confined space rescue and trench rescue. It also rescues civilians and firefighters in the event of entrapment at a fire scene.
It will practice confined space rescues in several steam tunnels and steam pits across the campus, which staff members regularly access to repair and upgrade. This training will prepare the campus for confined space rescues.
