Brown bag series: LifeMatters

UWM’s employee assistance provider, LifeMatters, is offering a free lecture series during the fall 2017 semester. The programs will focus on topics to develop and improve workplace skills.

All lectures will be held in Student Union Room 280 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch.

Find out the not-so-secret way to a healthier lifestyle at “Eat Right, Live Well” on Thursday, Sept. 21. The first lecture will cover the components of a healthy diet, meal planning strategies and excercise.

On Wednesday, Oct. 4, “Co-workers Communication” will help you develop communication skills to handle and resolve workplace conflicts. It will cover conflict resolution, active listening, problem solving and negotiation.

Learn the importance of “Respect in the Workplace” and positive co-worker relationships on Wednesday, Nov. 8. This lecture will cover the characteristics of a respectful workplace, how to promote respect and respond to disrespectful behavior.

Prepare for the “Transition to Retirement” on Tuesday, Dec. 5. Content will include the phases of retirement, mental preparation, potential hazards and opportunities.

Each program is limited to 50 participants. Register for any of the seminars by completing an online form.
