The COAST (Community Outreach and Assistant for Student Tenants) program exists to help build relationships between UW-Milwaukee’s off-campus students and longterm residents living in the neighborhood. As part of the Neighborhood Housing Office, COAST Leaders provide resources to students living off-campus and represents students in neighborhood association meetings. They also produce and deliver newsletters in the neighborhood with seasonal information on renting, safety, and nearby events.

COAST Leaders are students with diverse interests and majors including architecture, history, criminal justice, art, international studies, healthcare administration and many more. They are selected by the Neighborhood Housing Office staff based on the diversity of their experiences, their ability to interact with different types of people, and their willingness to put time and energy into connecting the off-campus community to the University.
