For Advisors

The introduction of the UWM Math Pathways changes what math courses students should be advised to take. Please take some time to review the new placement scheme here.

General guidelines are as follows:
Students with Placement Level 0 indicated on the transcript and a Math ACT score less than 16 should be directed to the Flipped/ALEKS Pathway (Math 094).

Math Placement Level E (92/94)

Students with Placement Level 0 indicated on the transcript, and either (i) a Math ACT score 16 or higher; or (ii) a transfer student, should be directed to the Math Lit Pathway (Math 092). Students who have a compelling need to take Math 105 in their first year (e.g., Nursing students) should be directed to the Flipped/ALEKS Pathway (Math 94).

Math Placement Level D (92/98)

Students with Placement Level 10 indicated on the transcript, and who are business, economics, health sciences, or STEM intended should take the Algebraic Lit Pathway (Math 098). Students with Placement Level 10 indicated on the transcript, and who are in the humanities, the arts, social welfare, and education are best served taking the Math Lit Pathway (Math 092).

Math Placement Level C and Higher
