2018 Marden Lecture Recap

Each spring, the Mathematical Sciences Department invites a distinguished mathematician to lecture to a general audience.

The 29th Annual Marden Lecture took place on March 13 at 4 p.m. in Lubar Hall, N140.

The lecture featured Dr. Vaughan Jones, a Stevenson Distinguished Professor and a Fields Medal Recipient, from Vanderbilt University.

This year, another captivated audience gathered for the Marden Lecture to hear Dr. Jones dive into “Why Quantum Theory Chooses Von Neumann Algrebras.”

This well-attended event was followed by a reception in EMS Building, E495.

The original event posting can be found here.

Sponsored by the Miriam and Morris Marden Fund, the Department of Mathematical Sciences, and the College of Letters & Science.
