This page provides our established software purchasing process, covering purchasing & payment considerations, licensing options, and the software distribution process. It is intended to supplement — but does not replace or supersede — the details available on the UWM Software Asset Management or UWM SoftwareShop websites. If you have any software purchasing questions after reading the information below, please submit a Support Request with as much detail as possible.
Purchasing & Payment
Consult with your unit’s business manager if you plan to buy a license from the UWM SoftwareShop with departmental funds. Please note that reimbursement is prohibited for any software purchases regardless of the intended use.
Available from the UWM SoftwareShop for current UWM employees, allowing installation onto one UWM-owned computer.
UWM Employee Home Use
Available from the UWM SoftwareShop for current UWM employees with an existing UWM-Owned license and allow installation onto one additional personal computer; these two software copies may not be used simultaneously.
Available for purchase with personal funds and may not be installed onto UWM-owned computers. Information on academic discounts can be found on the UWM Software Asset Management website.
Available for certain Microsoft products. Unlike standard Personal Use licenses, WAH software must be purchased with departmental funds and must be removed from an employee’s personal computer at the end of their UWM service.
In addition to these licensing options, L&S administration has subsidized a variety of commonly-used software for L&S employees:

Please keep in mind that although this software is completely funded by the College for UWM-owned PCs, it must still be ordered through the UWM SoftwareShop for licensing and distribution purposes.
After you purchase software, you’ll receive a confirmation e-mail and we’ll open a support ticket. For SoftwareShop purchases, software is now almost exclusively distributed over the campus network; unless explicitly stated in the product description, employees will not receive installation DVDs/CDs.
All support tickets concerning software purchased for UWM-owned computers will be assigned to a LSITO technician who will contact you with instructions to install the software on your computer using the self-service Software Center. If the software you purchased cannot be installed by self-service, the technician will arrange an appointment to install your software in person.
