Shelving Maintenance is responsible for the Shelving, Re-shelving, Shelf Reading, and Shifting of the general collection (also known as the “stacks”). Shelving Maintenance also sorts and makes up book trucks. The areas of the Library overseen by Shelving Maintenance staff include the 3 rd floor general stacks (call letters A-L, P), 2nd floor, west wing (call letters Q, R, N), and the Lower Level West (Compact Shelving) and East (call letters S-Z, Compact Shelving).
There are 5 sorting rooms for the general collection:
3rd floor (located across from the “KF” section)
2nd floor (1 – located across from “RC” section; 1 – located at the beginning of the “N” section)
Lower Level West (for Compact Shelving West; located outside of the Media and Reserve Library)
Lower Level East (for General Stacks and Compact Shelving East; located across from “S-Z” section)
