The Music Library consists of three sections:
- the Music Reference section (also called RMU),
- the general circulating section where scores and books are found, and the
- Sound Recording section, a closed-stack area with a service counter.
All music materials may be found by using Search@UW, The Library’s Web-based Online Catalog.

The Music Library Collection Development Policy is used in determining what will be added to the collection. This policy is a constituent portion of the Library-wide Collection Development Policy which gives additional detail about the broader-scale collection development issues addressed by the Library.
