The Scriptorium for Dissertators

A Place to Write!

In medieval times, a Scriptorium was a room reserved for writing and illustrating manuscripts.

The UWM Libraries and the Graduate School offer a quiet space reserved for UWM Dissertators to work on their writing.

Access to the Scriptorium is limited to students currently enrolled for dissertator credits. To register for access to the space, students may contact the Graduate School’s Doctoral Retention Specialist Shane Haensgen at haensgen@uwm.edu.

Users of the room are requested to always sign in and out, and respect the facilities made available.

  • Where: Golda Meir Library E159 (First Floor, East Wing)
  • Hours: Open during regular building hours.
The Scriptorium will occasionally be closed for specific events organized by the Graduate School or UWM Libraries. In this case, a sign will be posted on the door, and Dissertators will be invited to use the common space available to all faculty and graduate students, on the first floor of the East Wing.
  • Equipment: Bring your own laptop. UWM Wi-Fi available.
