Student Advising

Your advisor is your resource for all of your academic and college-life questions. It is highly recommended that you meet with your academic advisor at least once a semester to discuss your overall academic and career goals; review your academic progress; develop long- and short-term plans for completion of your requirements; and select appropriate classes for your next semester. Your advisor is a professional who can connect you to other resources that will support and enrich your college experience such as study abroad, health services, or student organizations.

Find My Advisor

Log into your PAWS Account and find your advisor’s name in the right hand column in the section labeled “Advisor.” Use our Contact Us page to schedule an appointment via telephone; at this time, we do not schedule appointments online or by email. During busy times like registration for fall and spring classes, it is best to call and schedule an appointment early.

Advisement Report

Wondering how close you are to graduation? How about what classes you can take in upcoming semesters to satisfy your degree requirements? The Academic Advisement System in PAWS is designed to create a report for all undergraduate students indicating the status — satisfied or not satisfied — of primary degree requirements and, for most unsatisfied requirements, list the courses that are available to complete the requirement. All undergraduate degree-seeking students at UWM have direct access to their Academic Advisement Report on PAWS. After logging into PAWS, in the first main section labeled “Academics,” choose “Academic Requirements” in the drop down box and hit the gold button.

If you have trouble accessing your Advisement Report, a detailed tutorial is available. This slideshow will not only show you how to run your own report but also how to read the report.
