Common Data Set (CDS)

Description:The Common Data Set (CDS) initiative is a collaborative effort among data providers in the higher education community and publishers of college resource guides. Data reported within the CDS by UWM is comparable to data provided by other institutions within their CDS reports. The CDS can be used as a resource for FAQ's ranging from enrollment, financial aid, faculty/staff, facilities, etc.
Production Schedule:Annually in late February for the prior Fall term
Data Source:A wide variety of data warehouse tables.
Change Log:03/20/2024: Corrected Race/Ethnicity field used in item B2 for Fall 2022 and Fall 2023 CDS to align with IPEDS methodology.

5/9/2023: Corrected the term listed for the student-to-faculty ratio reported in the 2018 CDS.

12/20/2022: Sections I1 and I2 were updated with corrected information.

7/12/2022: 2020 CDS was updated with a corrected retention rate for B22 that aligns more closely with the CDS specifications. 2021 CDS was updated with corrected responses for A1, B22, C1, C6, C14, C17, D5, and D18. Information in I1 and I2 were removed because technical problems were discovered in the underlying database that resulted in erroneous values.

5/13/2022: 2020 and 2021 CDS were updated to remove ACT and SAT statistics because institutional data contain self-reported scores.

February 2022: Production schedule updated from October to February.

3/18/2021: Additional redactions made to small enrollment counts to help protect student privacy.

June 2021: Section F1 updated to reflect correct % of out of state undergraduate students and Section F2 Activities Offered list updated.

June 2021: Public version of 2020 CDS link added. This version redacts student/faculty-related items with values less than or equal to 5.
