Lawton Program

Lawton is known as the Lawton Undergraduate Minority Retention Grant Program. It is designed to provide financial assistance to statutorily designated minority undergraduate students to improve their opportunities for retention and graduation and reduce the burden of student debt.

Lawton is INVITATION ONLY and students must meet the necessary eligibility requirements in order to be invited. Eligible students can receive up to eight (8) semesters of Lawton.

Lawton is awarded on a first come first serve basis. If offered, students are strongly encouraged to accept the award.

One must meet all necessary criteria listed below to be invited:

    • Completed 24 or more college credits
    • A GPA of at least 2.25
    • Enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits per semester                         
    • Identify as Black/African American, Native American, Latinx and/or Southeast Asian of Vietnamese, Cambodian, Hmong, or Laotian descent
    • Wisconsin resident / Eligible for WI State Aid
    • Completed a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) early, and identify as a need-based student
    • Lawton is awarded on a first come first serve basis.  If offered, students are strongly encourage to accept the award.
    • Eligible students can receive up to eight (8) semesters of Lawton
