CHS biomedical sciences student Kirsten Branstiter is featured in an “I AM UWM” video. She talks about finding her calling as a diagnostic imaging professional. Now interning at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Branstiter is helping patients every day.
Here’s what she said:

“I wanted to work in the health care field ever since I can remember and I wanted to help people. I was researching what to major in compared with careers. Diagnostic imaging was one of the first things that I came to love and really get intrigued with.”

“Currently I’m doing an internship at Froedtert Hospital in the general radiology department. I work alongside other sonographers, radiologists, fellows and residents, and I perform general ultrasound exams.”

“I think UWM has impacted me educationally with job shadowing opportunities and job fairs. They really help you in wherever you’re passionate about, whatever you want to do. They give you options.”

“I help people on a day-to-day basis. Patients come to me with complaints and pain, and sometimes I’m able to answer why they’re having that pain.”
