Over the past 100 years, breakthroughs in public health have helped to double life expectancy. Despite this progress, today’s children may be the first generation to face shorter lifespans and lead less healthy lives than their parents. UWM’s Joseph J. Zilber School of Public Health, soon to be Wisconsin’s first nationally accredited School of Public Health, is uniquely positioned to investigate and influence the social, economic, and environmental drivers that impact our overall health and well-being. We provide the relevant research, educated workforce, and transformational leadership necessary for healthy, vibrant, and prosperous communities.
What to Support
As UWM’s newest school, it is critical that we build our network of advocates and supporters. Your philanthropic investment in the following areas will have a direct and immediate impact on our faculty and students, as they lead change in Milwaukee and beyond—to create healthier tomorrows.
Student Scholarship Fund
Provides critical funding that enables our students to pursue their passion to make a difference in the community. Our students are trained to ask the right questions and design innovative solutions to address our most pressing public health concerns—such as infant mortality, obesity, chronic disease, and health inequity. We value your investment in educating our next generation of public health leaders.
Helps us recruit and retain world-class scientists and educators who lead our innovative, interdisciplinary teaching programs. Our faculty generate cutting-edge, high-impact public health research in a variety of areas, including women, children, and families health; health care equity and access; and environmental health sciences.
Dean’s Impact Fund
Provides strategic funding for innovative partnerships and leadership opportunities. The Zilber School is quickly gaining a reputation throughout Milwaukee and the region as a hub for social entrepreneurship and creative collaboration. As the school grows, so will our unique ability to address critical public health issues in our neighborhoods, our region, and the growing field of public health.

Stock or Other Appreciated Securities
Gifts of publicly traded securities that have appreciated in value allow you to avoid capital gains taxes, while also receiving a tax deduction for your gift. UWM benefits by selling the stock without paying taxes on the gain, and you benefit from knowing that your contribution is larger than it would have been as a cash gift.
Please send (or ask your broker to send) the UWM stock gift form to the UWM Foundation prior to transferring the securities, to make sure you receive proper acknowledgement for your gift.
