Ranked in the top 6% of 560 national graduate nursing programs, the UWM College of Nursing (CON) is a leader in nursing education and research. CON faculty and alumni are renowned locally and internationally for their innovative contributions to nursing science, practice, and curriculum models. Our community and corporate partnerships provide the foundation for cutting-edge programs that attract highly talented students and also provide opportunities to serve under-resourced Milwaukee residents.
As our state’s largest nursing program, CON has a unique responsibility to address the growing nursing shortage. We are graduating nurses whose expertise and bold vision will promote better health care and better health for all.
What to Support
Philanthropic investments in CON’s nursing education and research will enhance future health care delivery and, in turn, significantly improve the general health of our communities. We invite you to support our current funding priorities:
- Build a new state-of-the-art clinical simulation center, to educate and train students and professionals in nursing and related health care fields.
- Increase the number of endowed scholarships and fellowships, to attract talented and under-represented, low-income undergraduate and graduate nursing students.
- Expand programs at UWM Silver Spring & House of Peace Community Nursing Centers. These vital programs include safety-net care services for Milwaukee residents; community-based educational experiences for nursing students; and community participatory research.
- Create new endowed research chairs, professorships, and pre- or post-doctoral fellowships, to advance science in key areas of nursing research.

Stock or Other Appreciated Securities
Gifts of publicly traded securities that have appreciated in value allow you to avoid capital gains taxes, while also receiving a tax deduction for your gift. UWM benefits by selling the stock without paying taxes on the gain, and you benefit from knowing that your contribution is larger than it would have been as a cash gift.
Please send (or ask your broker to send) the UWM stock gift form to the UWM Foundation prior to transferring the securities, to make sure you receive proper acknowledgement for your gift.
