Why Support

UWM is one of only two Carnegie-related doctoral research universities in Wisconsin. The innovative research conducted throughout the university creates a scholarly community that is ideal for learning and working—for graduate students, for post-doctoral students, and for faculty.

Led by internationally recognized professors and researchers, the Graduate School fosters excellence across 57 master’s and 34 doctoral programs in professional, liberal arts, and science fields. An additional 41 certificate programs further the post-baccalaureate education of many professionals each year.

The Bureau of Labor and Statistics estimates that, by the end of this decade, the demand for a workforce with advanced degrees—individuals with broad perspectives and critical and innovative thinking skills—will grow by nearly 20%. Approximately two-thirds of our Graduate School students are from Wisconsin and they, along with the 74% of alumni living in southeast Wisconsin, fuel both the local economy and regional prosperity.

Will or Other Estate Plan
To learn more about including UWM in your will or other estate plan, visit our Planned Giving website.
Stock or Other Appreciated Securities
Gifts of publicly traded securities that have appreciated in value allow you to avoid capital gains taxes, while also receiving a tax deduction for your gift. UWM benefits by selling the stock without paying taxes on the gain, and you benefit from knowing that your contribution is larger than it would have been as a cash gift.

Please send (or ask your broker to send) the UWM stock gift form to the UWM Foundation prior to transferring the securities, to make sure you receive proper acknowledgement for your gift.
