The Peck School of the Arts (PSOA) is Wisconsin’s leading comprehensive arts training and education institution, with over 1,800 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled annually in performing and visual arts as well as arts education degree programs. PSOA alumni play influential roles locally, regionally, and nationally in arts organizations, K-12 schools, universities, and a wide range of creative industries.
We are committed to innovation, interdisciplinary training, technology-rich research, and developing strong partnerships to deepen our impact, both in the arts and the world-at-large. Faculty and students benefit from UWM’s urban setting, which provides myriad opportunities to learn outside the classroom through the school’s extensive partnerships with professional arts organizations, schools, and businesses. These include the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, the Milwaukee Art Museum, Danceworks, the Milwaukee Film Festival, and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, along with countless local graphic design and marketing firms.
What to Support
To intensify our impact in the arts, we have set the stage for a deepened commitment to our students—to enrich the teaching, learning, and creation of art that happen at PSOA. We welcome philanthropic investments from our alumni, donors, and friends. Here are some ways you can help.
To ensure that the best regional and national art and design, dance, film, music, and theatre students are admitted and retained. The recently established Randy R. Reddemann Emerging Artists Scholarship supports new and emerging talent. This gift is one example of how an alumnus with arts training and success in business is fulfilling his passion for the arts, by supporting students’ creativity and innovation.
Support for Faculty & Academic Staff Positions
To attract and retain top leaders in the arts—those who excel as teachers and serve as pioneers in contemporary arts, innovation, and economic development. For example, the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts awarded a grant supporting a curatorial fellowship for Sara Krajewski, Director of the Institute for Visual Arts (INOVA), to advance her research in contemporary performance and the visual arts.
Funding for Program Development
To introduce students and our region to internationally accomplished artists, performers, scholars, and teachers through master classes, stimulating exhibitions, workshops, and lectures. For example, to continue PSOA’s long legacy of contemporary and innovative dance, individual donors to the UWM Dance Department have funded the New Work Award. This includes a major commission that is open to alumni and provides funds to cover production costs and personnel. Each year since 2010, the New Work Award has led to a major new dance piece that is premiered in Milwaukee and performed by Dance Department students.
Upgrades for Facilities
To provide unique, well-equipped spaces that enhance teaching, learning, and presentation. Priority projects include making critical technological and physical improvements in our Film Department classrooms and screening rooms; converting space in the Kenilworth Building for multiuse performances; and completing the renovation of the Helen Bader Concert Hall in the Zelazo Center, with significant acoustical and physical modifications.

Stock or Other Appreciated Securities
Gifts of publicly traded securities that have appreciated in value allow you to avoid capital gains taxes, while also receiving a tax deduction for your gift. UWM benefits by selling the stock without paying taxes on the gain, and you benefit from knowing that your contribution is larger than it would have been as a cash gift.
Please send (or ask your broker to send) the UWM stock gift form to the UWM Foundation prior to transferring the securities, to make sure you receive proper acknowledgement for your gift.
